It would save so much time if I just made all my "Z's personal life" posts private in the first place, instead of posting, mulling over how my emo-ness may make people uncomfortable, and then switching the post to LJ's super-handy "private" mode.

SO MUCH TIME.

NO ONE MUST EVER KNOW MY HORRIBLE AND BORING SECRETS.

I do it ALL THE TIME. Except that I just end up deleting my posts outright, and they vary in subject matter. God. I'm all for posting it as I write it, but ten minutes later "ZOMG NO ONE MUST SEE" and away it goes. XD

For the record, though, I've never felt uncomfortable about any of the posts I've read and then you've deleted. Promise. <3

Haha. I've done that a snillion times, too. XD Sometimes it feels better to post angsty emoness in a public place. ...And then immediately delete it. But I'm with Lysa in that I've never felt uncomfortable after reading a Z-post. <3

You could just explain to everyone what you finally had to explain to me (the whole "LJ is for venting" thing). Put a standard disclaimer like that up and post away! =)

I think it depends in large measure on how highly you trust the people of the Internet (in a public post) or your F-List("friends only"). Or, you know, if you want to bother with making a custom group....

I decided about six or seven weeks ago that if I were going to post anything personal, it would only be something positive. "LJ Friends" don't give a damn if I'm sad, like you or my other real friends do.

After suffering from an acute case of LJ DRAMA, I was this close to pulling a Meej and chucking the whole damned thing. My point is that the people that really care *might* get a little uncomfortable--depending on the subject matter--but that's an indicator that they want to help (if possible) or at least support you (if there's nothing that can help).

Sometimes it helps to just vent to the ether, and obviously SOME things NEED to be kept close to the vest. There's nothing wrong with that. But don't ever think that the people who care can't be troubled by "emo-ness". If you think you're doing anybody a favor by denying us YOU, then you're sorely mistaken!

Word.

But every once in a while, you should reveal the terrible secret of space (http://newgrounds.com/portal/view/33440).

Oh boy, there are some secrets that cannot or should not be shared to the public. Some are dangerous and some not. So I can't blame you... but I wouldn't worry too much about boredom per se.

I quit bothering to post about relationships or weird family drama. Nobody on eljay gets it, and all I get are weirdly uncomfortable "um, I'm sorry?" comments, except from people like you, who don't actually feel compelled to coddle me and who actually tell me when I'm a retard. Hah.
