Alliance of Scottish Wizards!
May. 29th, 2005 12:07 amI have finished my Father's Day shopping. I WIN AT... SATURDAY. I guess. It wasn't that difficult, really. I just got him a gift card for the local circuit of malls, because he is a girly boy that loves to shop more than most women. I figured the best gift I could give him would be another excuse to shop.
Z's guilty confession of the day: I like shopping at Hot Topic. It's sad, but it's true.
Now, I know that it's renowned for being a place for weepy goth teens to purchase their mass-produced uniqueness, but around here at least there seems to have been a shift in their demographic. A year or so ago I felt out of place walking into the store wearing any clothing with color on it, but now the patrons are the same hazy crowd that roam the rest of the mall. This is probably because the store has become more of an outlet for pop culture than an outlet for black trenchcoats (though they still have those as well). I'm not saying this is any better, but it's less annoying anyway.
Besides, you know what? I like being able to find Family Guy car decals, The Nightmare Before Christmas bed sheets and Invader Zim socks all in the same store. IT MAKES ME SMILE. Is there anyone out there who has a problem with me smiling? IS THERE?
At any rate, I brought this up because I did a rare thing and gave in to the urge for pointless spending today. I now have a "Nessie: Our Underwater Ally" shirt because, damnit, I do love Napoleon Dynamite, and that scene never fails to send me into fits of laughter.
Alliance of Scottish Wizards. That's what I'm talking about.
ETA: Stupid Customer Moment of the Day
Question: "Is there a difference between a coffee frappuccino and a caramel frappuccino?"
Answer: "..."
