I just made myself sad.

The current frontrunners for 2008 make me even sadder. Where does one find a candidate that does not get progressively stupider the closer they get to the presidency?

As a voter, I agree. The choice of people does suck. HOWEVER, you can't forget one very important thing. Because of the nature of elections, the other side always finds at least a year's worth of vile crap to say about their opponent. This is the main reason why both candidates end up looking like dirtbags, because the other side succeeds.

Instead of looking for the perfect candidate who has never hit his girlfriend or got drunk at a party in his teen years or never publically said something utterly idiotic, we need only look for the one with the best ideas for the future who is also capable of making those ideas into reality. That is all I want from my elected government official. Ideas for things I believe in, and the capacity to get it done.

I hope this is the main thing other people worry about as well.

Its nice to see change. And yet sad to see that we haven't embraced such change here. As far as political candidates, it is the lesser of the evils my friend. It truly is.
