For Christmas, my counselor got me a leather wallet hand-stitched by a schizophrenic inmate at the state prison.

Well, part of the facility IS dedicated to people who aren't there because they're waiting to stand trial. I don't think it's the same place as THE state prison? I'm not sure, but everyone there is there because their mental illness is very severe, and only some of them happen to be prisoners.
