Last weekend was Mexican food and "The Painted Veil" with [livejournal.com profile] mko and [livejournal.com profile] shinikius. Very pretty movie. Graphic depictions of cholera, and all I could think of was The Oregon Trail (the computer game of my youth, not the trail).

This weekend was The Teeter House with Mko on Saturday where I had the CHOCOLATE ESPRESSO TORTE OF AWESOME topped with some tiny red berry things that I could not identify. One of them exploded in Mko's face. They were delicious.

We talked about hiking, possibly in the White Tank mountains, and decided that we should first build up our stamina on some easier trails.

So the next day we went hiking at Thunderbird Park and learned important life lessons. For example: when you're getting tired and come to a fork in the road, never let Z choose your path for you. In an attempt to find the shortest path back to the car, she will go in the wrong direction and end up leading you along a long, steep path that takes you up to the peak of the tallest mountain in the park, and THEN - instead of going down the other side of the mountain back to the blessed, cushion-y car - JUST STOPS.

Mko: "I hate you."
Z: "I hate myself."

It was the hike that would not end. Ever. Ever ever ever ever. We're still hiking. It's very cold.

We still plan on seeing "Curse of the Golden Flower" next weekend. Possibly with [livejournal.com profile] shinikius if she would grace us with her presence. And send a rescue chopper.

WE SHOULD HIKE THERE TOGETHER ON SOME NEBULOUS FUTURE DATE.

I know we're both freaky busy but it's starting to seem weird that we never hang out. PEOPLE ARE TALKING. And by "people" I mean "nobody at all, ever".

And it's going to get cooler again, so REJOICE or COWER or BOTH.

Holy hell you sound like I ignore you people.

If you wanted hiking you could have gone up to the hills/mountains that are five miles from my doorstep. Or I suppose one day we could actually go up to Montezuma's Well. Mayhaps spring break...

I will grace you with my presence if you attempt to contact me. But the rescue chopper is doubtful.

You're confused. "Grace us with her presence" was meant earnestly, in the "she is awesome and it would be awesome to hang out with her" sense. It was not meant sarcastically in the "Where the fuck is Lesley and why is she never around?" sense.

In all fairness, I have been avoiding people this week so it could have meant where the hell I've been.

I was thinking of seeing that movie myself so it most definitely is something we should do.

I'm glad you guys got to go to Teeter House finally, but really, I don't want to see you guys getting lost whilst on the Greater Phoenix Trail and then have to have all this big blitzy fuss about it at my place of employment, at which point some members of your party get cholera in an unfortunate twist of events, forcing you to ford the river until one of your f**king oxen dies.

Always the best strategy ... although the way you write it implies some sort of double entendre...

I suggest for the next Z Nature Trip another of your great passions besides hiking.

You should go kayaking. In fact, you could make it a race! Invite your friends! We'll divide into teams; you, Mko, and [livejournal.com profile] shinikius in one boat and me, [livejournal.com profile] sakibombshell, and Ernest Borgnine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boy-Scoutz_N_the_Hood) in the other! ^_^

In other news, there's a student in 6th Hour that reminded me of you BEFORE she wore the Pez shirt. I'm not sure how to take that, Universe.

Are you sure you're up for that sort of trip? If the events of "Deliverance" and your boat mate are any indication, that trip will not end well for you.

If I should partake in this potentially life-altering kayaking trip, I am definitely NOT taking one for the team...

...

Is there something you'd like to share about [livejournal.com profile] sakibombshell...?

Ernest Borgnine was in The Poseidon Adventure. Not that that's much better.... *^_^*

Yes, but the episode you referenced parodied "Deliverance".

"David has been eaten by bears. You have to leave the buffulo meat. Annabelle fell off in the river because she is a dumb ass and dropped her bonnet." Screw the Oregon Trail!

I do want to see The Painted Veil especially now that I know cholera is in someway involved with the plot.

You should never let me pick mountain trails either. I made the mistake of taking the blue trail at Sleeping Giant, the state parkl across from the Uni I go to, and it eventually involved clambering up rocks on a near vertical trail.

I hope we never get lost in the wilderness together. We'd probably wind up walking off a cliff.

SPEAKING OF THE WILDERNESS, remember when you visited many moons ago and took pictures of you, me and Kate in the Petrified Forest? WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO THOSE?

Maybe Kate was the one factor that kept that from happening. Good times, good times.

As for the pictures, I know they are in Louisiana somewhere. I will track hem down when I go home this summer.
