The day the new A-Team movie comes out!

...wait.

I am so happy about this movie. Don't believe anyone who tells you that Trekkies are going to universally revile it, because so far it seems to be almost the opposite. For reals, folks, I have drunk Tulaberry Wine at a fake Quark's Bar, I have willfully worn a combadge in public (to Trek events only, I swear), and I have two Trek keychains: one with my name on it, and one with the name of an old Trek RP character's mirror universe counterpart (I think that may be the geekiest thing I have ever typed) AND I am absolutely looking forward to this.

I am happy that new people who don't even know the difference between Star Trek and Star Wars are actually excited about going to see all the characters I love on the big screen. For my part, I will be happy as long as I get to see Kirk and Spock being MFEO (even/especially if they have to hit each other first), McCoy being a sarcastic bitch (the doctors are always the best Trek characters), Uhura being charming as hell (I wonder if the actress can sing), Scotty being an adorable fluffmuffin engineering genius, Sulu being a swashbuckler (in fact I have already seen this in the trailer, eee!), and Chekov may be a bit superfluous at this point but he can sit there looking cute.

In addition, for my Trekkie friends who know what came before and want to see it laid out in a sentimental and tear-inducing way,

The part that got me was the shots of Scotty walking onto the recreation of the Enterprise bridge in the future, all alone, juxtaposed with the shots of the old crew on the bridge. AW, SCOTTY. <3

More on work and how that went in a couple of days, once my huge nerd-on diminishes.

I've been a little wary of the new movie, mostly because I've been worried about what they'd do with the characters (and the Dukes of Hazzard opening for the trailer made me go 'BWUH?'). Supposedly, the actors tried to keep the essence of the characters, while giving a new spin on things. I'm hoping they achieve that well. Despite my wariness, though, I'm still way looking forward to it. <3 It's STAR TREK, after all. I've caught every movie in the theater since I was old enough to, which was Star Trek V (Star Trek IV, however, was a beloved video tape). I still get a little thrill out of hearing the theme on a big screen. <3 We need to geek out at each other once we've both seen it! :D

And total 'awwww' at the anniversary video. <3 And I'm so pleased with myself for recognizing Picard's flute tune! It's such a beautiful song.

I have been steadfastly ignoring the TV spots, because movie advertisers are a special breed that ruin everything they touch.

And yes, we TOTALLY need to geek out at each other. WHAT COULD BE MORE AWESOME THAN GEEKING OUT WITH A RU OVER STAR TREK? (hee hee Angel Trek) Let me know when you've seen it and I will hit you up in Gchat.

It is a lovely song. I'm kind of annoyed because "The Inner Light" is one of the TNG episodes I have never seen, and I NEED TO SEE IT. AUGH.

P.S. I love you icon so, so much.
